PRESENTATION: The intensity of a wave tends to diminish as we move far from the focus where it originates due either to the absorption, either associated with the loss of energy or associated with the distribution of energy. I the case of a spherical wave this distribution of energy among a higher number of points is inversely proportional to the square of the distance to its emission focus.
