Van de Graaff
02 Dec, 2012
PRESENTATION: If small bits of paper, plastic or confetti are placed above a van der Graaff generator, we can observe how they are repelled once the electrostatic charge exceeds, goes above a certain value. Their final trajectories are parabolic, and coincident initially with the electric field lines of the charged dome. The same effect can be observed if strips of paper or a wig are placed in contact with the charged dome.
